The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Special Events and Foundation Intern. This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a fun fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing Coursework.

The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the Group Sales Department along with the charitable arm of the organization, the Checkers Charitable Foundation. The intern's primary responsibilities will be to assist the Foundation Director and group sales staff on game days and during office hours. Interns will work alongside the foundation director to help plan and execute fundraising events such as the golf tournament and jersey auctions.  Interns will also have the opportunity to work alongside the group sales department and will be actively involved in the successful execution of the Charlotte Checkers 2017-18 season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist sales reps in planning special events for clients and fans
  • Assist in setting up and overseeing catering events at Bojangles' Coliseum pre- and post-game
  • Assist with special events in planning, marketing and execution
  • Assist at the Foundation Table in-game with selling of special items, raffles, etc. and be knowledgeable about fundraising initiatives to help promote the Checkers Charitable Foundation
  • Assist Director of CCF with special foundation events
  • Be an ambassador for the team and help create extraordinary fan experiences

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management or a related field

Internship Overview:  The Grand Rapids Griffins are searching for a dedicated, self-motivated, creative, and enthusiastic individual to assist in the facilitation of the team’s game operations for the 2017-18 season.  The applicant for this internship should have a strong interest in a career on the event management side of sports.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Looking for a creative individual that has an eye for capturing the emotion of a situation through the medium of video and the editing skills to tell a story with that emotion.  
 

Desired skills & experience:

The Rockford IceHogs are the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. The Game Operations & Community Relations Intern will assist the Game Operations & Community Relations Coordinator to learn and develop a strong understanding of AHL hockey. • Assisting in the production of game-day notes and press packets for media
• The daily maintenance and upkeep of team statistical and sports information
• Composing content for Penguins’ web and social media initiatives
• Providing game-time information for on and off-site media
• Assisting in the production of post-game recaps, articles for Penguins' game program and websites.  
• Assisting with the creation and implementation of public relations efforts
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Candidates must have:

• High School Diploma
• Strong verbal and writing skills
• Ability to multitask
• Strong work ethic
• Basic knowledge of hockey
• Flexible hours and availability on nights and weekends
