2014-15 Coordinator, Game Operations Internship - Adirondack Flames (Glens Falls, NY)

Located in Glens Falls, NY and playing at the Glens Falls Civic Center, the Adirondack Flames, the American Hockey League Affiliate of the Calgary Flames, are seeking a highly talented, organized and eager candidate for an internship position as the Coordinator of Game Operations.  This is an opportunity to support game day event production and work in the exciting professional sports and entertainment industry. We are looking for qualified candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring new and innovative ideas to our team. The position reports to our Director, Game Operations, and is right hand man on game nights.  He/She will have duties that will include, but are not limited to the following:

-Flawless execution of promotional game scripts at all Flames’ home games
-Overseeing promotional game night staff in their duties
-Help the Director, Game Operations host pre-game meetings with various groups involved in a Flames’ home game
-Help set up and tear down the various props and moving parts for Flames’ home games
-Assisting the Director, Game Operations with editing and adjusting the game scripts for a given night

The Binghamton Senators, the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, are seeking game day interns to assist our Director of Game Operations for the 2014-15 season. This is an unpaid position. However, candidates have the opportunity to receive credit for their experience. As an intern, you will learn how many aspects of a professional sports franchise operate in addition to the operations involved in a game day presentation.

Duties:

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Event Planning Intern.This position offers an inside look at birthday coordination and fan experiences of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for helping coordinate all Charlotte Checkers birthday parties on game days.

• Assists in pregame setup of all birthday parties both at the arena and off-site.

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Game Operations Intern.This position offers an inside look at the game day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This position is designed to assist all members of the ticketing, marketing and corporate departments specifically during game days and community events throughout the season. This internship is a part time position with a focus on in game presentation and execution. This position will have heavy interaction with the Checkers’ current fan base.

 

The Checkers will play a 38 game home schedule during the 2014-2015 season, Starting in October and lasting until mid April, 2015. Playoffs can extend the season until the middle of June.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work ALL Charlotte Checkers games (Weekdays & Weekends)

• Assist in planning and preparing game operation activities.

• Works with Marketing Manager and corporate activation department to develop scripts for all games.

• Supports Charlotte Checkers Marketing staff in all pregame or post game events as assigned.

• Assists Marketing Manager with in-game production and promotional activities, including selecting guests for intermission activities and promotions: selecting contestants, Zamboni riders, monitoring interactive concourse tables, coordinating group outings etc.

• Interacts with Charlotte Checkers Hockey Operations staff, TWCA staff, Charlotte Checkers Hockey corporate partners and guests of Time Warner Cable Arena.

• Placing and organizing partner signage

• Partnership activation including concourse marketing

• Assisting staff with promotional giveaways and couponing initiatives

• Assisting the sales staff with in arena fan experiences

• Other duties as assigned

Game Day Production / Camera Operator Internship - Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club (Hamilton, ON)

OBLIGATION: All home games for the 2014-2015 Hamilton Bulldogs season (37 games)

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 6-7

SUMMARY: The Hamilton Bulldogs, American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, are currently accepting applications for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. Game Day Production Interns will be an integral part in the production of all Hamilton Bulldogs home games. Interns will rotate through a variety of positions including main follow camera, tight follow camera, faceoff/crowd shots camera, robo camera, replay system and graphics system. Interns will have the opportunity to produce Hamilton Bulldogs promotional videos and/or animations that may be shown in-game or via social media/website channels.  Interns will also learn how to operate a Tricaster switcher.

This crew will assist the Hamilton Bulldogs Game Operations team in capturing on-ice action, in-game promotions and high-energy crowd shots. The chosen candidates will gain hands-on experience across all facets of production and a firsthand look at what goes into executing Game Day Production for a full season of Hamilton Bulldogs hockey. 
 

PRIMARY GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive 2-3 hours prior to game time, meet with the Digital Production Coordinator to receive game day rundown and assignments

  • Camera set-up and take-down, ensure that all components are operating properly

  • Take direction from Digital Production Coordinator via headset

  • Capture in-game action, fan shots, contests, promotions and intermission events that take place in-arena

  • Update in-game graphics as required

  • Prepare replays of in-game action

  • Edit together highlight packages during intermissions of first and second period highlights

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interns will have the opportunity to produce promotional videos and/or animations that may be shown in-game or utilized via social media/website channels. This will require additional hours outside of game days and the intern may need to utilize their own editing equipment.

POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidates must be enrolled in a post-secondary course of study pertaining to Broadcasting, Communications Media, or a similar field.  The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Classroom or hands-on experience with operating cameras and editing software

  • A positive attitude and a “can do” approach

  • The ability to apply critical thinking and effectively follow direction

The video production intern will assist in the filming, editing and presentation of video and graphics used throughout the Monarchs operation.

Graphic Design Winter Internship - Worcester Sharks (Worcester, MA)

Basic Functions (vary from department to department):
Assist in the development and design of brochures, flyers and banners
Assist in the development and design of ad creation while working on strict deadlines
Design and create images for the Sharks official website, SharksAHL.com

Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older by September 1, 2012
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator a must
Knowledge of Flash, Premier Pro, and After Effects is preferred
Must be able to pass the Massachusetts required background check
Must be able to receive college credit

2014/15 Winter Internships - Worcester Sharks (Worcester, MA)

Summary
The Worcester Sharks are looking for internship candidates for the 2014-15 season. We are currently looking to hire interns for the Fall Semester. We offer internships in a variety of areas including sales, marketing, community relations, corporate sales and game operations. Our internships are great opportunities for individuals to see firsthand how a professional sports team is organized and managed. They will gain experience in all aspects of the organization which will provide them with the skills necessary for future careers.

Major Areas & Representative Duties
• Data Entry
• Fulfill donation requests
• Administer and implement current sales programs
• Assist in research and development of new sales campaigns
• Write game summaries
• Research statistics for home and away radio/television broadcasters
• Help set up pre and post game events
• Service concourse activities
• Help in-arena host with all in game promotions and contests
• Assist with the execution of concourse activities
• Promote a positive fan experience

 


Competencies and Qualifications
• Must be 18 years or older by October 1, 2014
• One or two semester long position, with ability to work regular office hours along with game nights and weekends
• Must be able to pass the Massachusetts required background check
• Must be able to receive college credit
• Cannot be a current Worcester Sharks season ticket holder
• Ability to work with people of all ages
• Ability to learn new skills quickly
• Ability to process information in an organized and efficient manner
• Outgoing, enthusiastic personality; enjoys working as a part of a team
