Description

The Binghamton Devils are currently seeking two (2) Media/Community Relations Interns for the 2017-18 American Hockey League season. This will be a hands-on internship, providing interns the chance to gain real experience in the field. This internship position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Media/Community Relations with a variety of tasks including:

  • Assist in managing game night media table; distributing credentials.
  • Help manage team’s social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat.
  • Maintaining working relationships with all local and regional media outlets.
  • Coordinate and write content/goals for game night recap press release.
  • Assist in managing press box for ALL Devils home games.
  • Scoresheet distribution to all press box members & locker rooms during intermissions and post-game.
  • Assist in any working media requests during games.
  • Oversee team photography and uploading of game photos during the game.
  • Research of team, players, history, etc.
  • Attend and document Devils player/mascot appearances.
  • Various statistical research and projects.
  • Postgame updating of player bios/game notes.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO SALARY OR STIPEND WITH THIS POSITION. FOOD PROVIDED ON GAME NIGHTS.

Requirements:

  • Work ALL Binghamton Devils’ home games during the 2017-18 season.
  • Knowledge of all social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat.
  • Work one office day per week (when needed).
  • Must be a high school or college student working towards a career in media relations/public relations. If in college, must be earning college credit for internship.
  • If not local a student, willing to relocate at own expense and find housing.
  • Must always project a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Willing to learn simple video editing, creating GIF’s during the game.
  • Willing to learn how to edit photos during the game with Photoshop.
  • Film post-game interviews with players/coaching staff.
  • Take notes and assist in typing the post-game recap story.

Game Operations Intern - Binghamton Devils (Binghamton, NY)

The Binghamton Devils, the AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, are seeking game day interns to assist our Director of Game Operations for their inaugural 2017-18 season. This is an unpaid position, however candidates have the opportunity to receive credit for their experience. This internship will give candidate a vast knowledge of how professional sports organizations, especially minor league organizations, provide world class entertain, and give you a behind the scenes look on how to execute game night elements.  There are 10 internship opportunities available. Please note this is an unpaid internship, college credit is preferred but not required.

Duties:

  • Assist during the game day presentation wherever assigned and needed whether it is in the concourse, in the stands, on the ice, etc.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of the game day experience
  • Help with all pre-game and postgame activities

Requirements:

  • Attend Game Night Meetings planned by Director of Game Operations
  • Desire to work in sports
  •  Work game days/game nights
  • Must maintain professional attitude and appearance, and willing to work hard

Binghamton Devils - Ticket Sales Internship - Binghamton Devils (Binghamton, NY)

The Binghamton Devils are currently seeking Ticket Sales interns for 2017 summer. 2017-18 will be the inaugural season for the Binghamton Devils as the American Hockey League affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. Our goal is to maintain an internship program that is beneficial to both the student and the organization. The most important department in any professional sports organization is the ticket sales department. Most jobs in the industry, especially most entry-level jobs, are in the ticket sales area. Therefore, it is imperative that those who wish to work in professional sports have a background, knowledge, and love for selling tickets and the ticket selling process. This internship will give the intern a vast knowledge of how professional sports organizations, especially minor league organizations, increase their ticket sales with season and group tickets. There are up to 4 positions available.  Opportunities to earn commission. Please note this is an unpaid internship, college credit is preferred but not required.

Duties:

• Make cold calls to local companies and individuals selling 2017-2018 season memberships and group ticket plans.

• Maintain an organized profile of clients and prospects
• Develop and implement programs for lead generation
• Research and generate sales leads
• Provide customer service and implement customer relations programs both on and off site
• Assist in servicing season ticket holders and other clients
• Assist the sales staff in regard to their clerical duties
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements:
•  Work at least 30 hours a week in the Binghamton Devils office, some nighttime work required
