JOB DESCRIPTION

Have the ability to take direction and perform tasks at a fast pace as assigned by Phantoms staff.  Lots of opportunities to learn about professional sports and get involved.  Some key areas of assistance are game day, on-ice promotions, fulfilling sponsorship commitments, and the execution of office work as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assist in implementation of Phantoms special events, including (but not limited to) season ticket holder parties, Fan Appreciation Night and pre-game parties

* Assistance with promotions on and off the ice

* Helping with pre-game and/or post-game ceremonies

* Assistance with handouts/giveaways pre-game and/or post-game

* Assisting customers and ticket holders at the Guest Services Booth

* Coordination of game day arena setup

* Serving as a liaison with local hockey organizations for intermission games

* Facilitating birthday parties on game nights

 

REQUIREMENTS

Availability for game days and special events. Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communications skills and come to work presenting a professional appearance and behavior. Other requirements include: the ability to work independently, capable of meeting deadlines, be available to work during non-business hours, be  able to work with people of all ages, and have the capability to work in an every changing environment during a hockey game.

Group Sales Associate - Binghamton Senators (Binghamton, NY)

The Binghamton Senators seek a hard working, aggressive, self-motivated person to assist the organization with its ticket sales campaigns primarily group sales campaign. This is the perfect position for those seeking experience with an entry level position in ticket sales. This position represents a great starting point for those wishing to enter the competitive field of professional sports. Great chance for promotion for those who excel in this position.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a Seasonal Position from mid-June to mid-April with a monthly stipend plus commissions. There are no relocation expenses available for this position.

Compensation:
$500 a month stipend
10% Commission on most sales
5% Commission on smaller package sales
No benefits associated with this position

Responsibilities:
• Make cold calls to area companies, organizations, social groups, schools, and non-profits, with a primary focus on selling  group ticket packages, but also selling season ticket packages and fan experience packages. Make 80-100 calls a day
• Schedule face-to-face meetings with prospective clients. 10 meetings a week
• Create and develop new group sales concepts to generate new revenue streams.
• Work at least 2 nights a week, in addition to normal day time hours, calling customers for season ticket plans, mini plans, and other special offers. 30-40 calls during a 3 hour period
• Develop, implement and maintain sales campaigns utilizing direct mail, cold calling, appointment scheduling, and ticket driven revenue promotions.
• Meet or exceed Ticket Sales Revenue Objectives
• Generate own leads by prospecting respective sales area.
• Prospecting through involvement in local and area networking opportunities.
• Work all home games for the purpose of developing new prospects plus meeting with present clients for referral opportunities.
• Assist in promoting organization through various outside events in the Southern Tier area.
• Establish professional relationships in order to create repeat business and superior customer service.
• Maintain complete and accurate records for customers and organization.
• Daily updated database maintenance of sales, as well as call sheet tracking
• Perform other promotional or service functions as required.
• Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Sales, Director of Ticketing, and Executive Vice President of Operations.


Requirements:
• College degree majoring in a related field. (Business, Marketing, Sport Management, Communications, etc.).

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders, are currently accepting applications for internships for the Fall of 2013. Candidates must currently be enrolled in college and must be able to receive credit for their learning experience; there is no monetary compensation. Internship will take place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT. Candidates must be able to work game nights and weekends. As a participant in the Fall Internship Program, interns learn the inner workings of how to run a successful top affiliate sports organization along with the operations of an arena.
Intern characteristics desired:

The below department are the available areas for internship positions. They include a brief description of a few of the aspects of the departments’ duties for the summer:
Ticket Operations (TicketMaster and/or Archtics experience a plus):
1. Database management – adding new leads, tracking voucher / coupon usage, season & partial plan ticket holder attendance project, etc
2. Assist in entering payments, booking orders, and sorting tickets for various sales needs
3. Box office management – window sales, handle incoming calls, general customer service, manage will call
Corporate / Sponsorship Sales
1. Sponsorship fulfillment – making sure sponsors receive everything their deal entails
2. Corporate events – managing tables, representing the organization in the corporate world, obtain prospective clients through lead generation
3. Assisting sales staff on event days with sponsorship fulfillment aspects, catering to their clients’ needs, overall appearance of concourse tables, etc
Group Sales
1. Organize group orders as they come in as far as payments, ticket distribution, will call needs, etc

3. Game Night Duties – accompany groups to any specific arenas they need to be (anthem singers, youth hockey groups, etc), birthday outing organizers, overall making sure groups are enjoying their experience, etc.
PR/Media/Community Relations – (experience using Final Cut Pro)
1. Post game video editing for Sound Tigers TV clips, producing player / coach interviews, managing stats for website, etc

3. Community events – managing tables and mascot appearances, representing the organization in community, lead generation
Marketing / Graphics – (proficient in Mac environment, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver), QuarkXPress.
1. Manage and update Arena / Team website
2. Create new marketing tools such as web, print, etc for various department needs
3. Assist in any target market email blasts or any specific web-basted marketing
Digital Media – (Basic Photoshop Ability/Basic HTML ability)
1. Assist with all marketing activities with a focus on our social media, email marketing and website
2. Helping with street team, game night operations and any other duties as the season progresses
3. Experience with professional social media required and experience with video editing and/or graphic design is a plus.
Video & Game Operations – (Experience with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects is recommended)
1. Assist in all aspects of creating content for games and events. This consists of, but is not limited to, shooting and editing video, creating graphics for the video board and LED signage, and preparing video play back and character generators for game nights
2. Game day duties include the set-up and break-down of video and audio equipment. Office day duties include assisting the Game Operations department with special projects, game entertainment, game night organization and overall department assistance.
Building Operations
1. Assist with all aspects of building management in order to keep arena in proper condition pre & post events
2. Provide inventory for all necessary supplies and equipment for arena operations
3. Aid the arena manager in the coordination of all arena scheduling; help with acting as the liaison with outside arena users in regard to set up, operation and cleanup for events brought to the arena
4. Assist with any arena ice rentals or clinics
Game Operations
1. Must be available to work all Sound Tigers home games throughout the season that runs for October through April with potential playoff games running into May.
2. Game Operations interns will be performing detailed research on in-game entertainment, assisting with promotions, event execution and sponsorship fulfillment.
3. Must be able to adapt, react and make quick decisions in order to maintain control of the TV time-out within a tight time frame. Interact with all members of the office from Team President to VP of Operations to Sales Reps, as well as all fans including children, parents, groups, sports teams and other patrons in attendance.
Finance Department
1. Assist Finance Director with various spreadsheet work for accounts receivables, accounts payables, and multiple other needs.
2. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and record daily cash transactions
3. Help track invoicing needs for suite licensors and corporate sponsorship accounts

Charlotte Checkers 2013-2014 Game Operations Internship

 

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Game Operations Intern.This position offers an inside look at the game day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a fun fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing Coursework.

 

*This internship is a GAME DAY ONLY position. No office hours required.*

 

This position is designed to assist all members of the ticketing, marketing and corporate departments specifically during game days and community events throughout the season. This internship is a part time position with a focus on in game presentation and execution. This position will have heavy interaction with the Checkers’ current fan base.

 

The Checkers will play a 38 game home schedule during the 2013-2014 season lasting until mid April, 2014. Playoffs can extend the season until the middle of June.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work ALL Charlotte Checkers games (Weekdays & Weekends)

• Assist in planning and preparing game operation activities.

• Works with Marketing Manager and corporate activation department to develop scripts for all games.

• Supports Charlotte Checkers Marketing staff in all pregame or post game events as assigned.

• Assists Marketing Manager with in-game production and promotional activities, including selecting guests for intermission activities and promotions: selecting contestants, Zamboni riders, monitoring interactive concourse tables, coordinating group outings etc.

• Interacts with Charlotte Checkers Hockey Operations staff, TWCA staff, Charlotte Checkers Hockey corporate partners and guests of Time Warner Cable Arena.

• Placing and organizing partner signage

• Partnership activation including concourse marketing

• Assisting staff with promotional giveaways and couponing initiatives

• Assisting the sales staff with in arena fan experiences

• Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Sport Management, Marketing or closely related field. (Charlotte area University preferred) 

• Successful candidates have some experience in marketing and/or customer service, are innovative, self-starters, independent, demanding nothing less than the best, energetic, and organized while possessing excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Kids Club staff is responsible for bringing excitement to our youngest Monarchs fans. Last year’s Kids Club had 875 members, one of the largest in the AHL. Career growth-oriented sports sales development program, which focuses on developing the skills needed to become an inside sales and customer service professional. Under the guidance of the Manager of Ticket Sales, the intent of this program is to expand the applicant’s abilities to a level that will merit consideration for a promotion to a full time position within the sports industry following successful completion of the program. Our internship program is unpaid, though there is opportunity to make commission on any sales, and we would prefer this be for college credit, but that is not required. You will be required to submit your availability ahead of time.

Responsibilities:
• Make outbound calls to assigned leads to sell upcoming events and ticket packages
• Answer incoming single game calls with the ability to up-sell callers into packages, and groups
• Work a minimum of 15 hours per week (office and game hours required)
• Work all home games, plus additional nights, weekends and holidays outside of normal office hours, as assigned
• Represent the organization at in-house events and off-site community events promoting tickets; you will be the “Face” of the organization
• Maintain computerized records of all ticket customers and prospects using our CRM data base Archtics
• Provide unsurpassed customer service to prospects and current clients over the phone, in office and at games or other events
• Assist customer service efforts (mailing invoices, tickets, etc…), and other office tasks
• Help with planning and organizing various sales and marketing initiatives and programs
• Attend weekly meetings and sales training/role-play sessions.
• Meet or exceed weekly and monthly sales goals
• Other duties as assigned by Manager of Ticket Sales of Sales or VP of Business Development

 

Qualifications:

• At least one year of advanced education working towards a degree in Business, Sport Management, Marketing or related field.
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with long hours, which includes home games, nights, weekends and holidays as assigned
• Desire to be a sales industry leader
• Ability to work as a team player
• Proficiency in basic computer software programs
