The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of FALL Retail Merchandising Intern. This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the merchandise department of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a dynamic, fun, fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing or Retail Merchandising Coursework.

*This internship is PAID for scheduled game days and UNPAID for office days*
*This internship MUST be completed for college credit*

This position is designed to assist all members of the merchandising department and work as an in-game sales representative during each game in which scheduled. This internship is a part time position with a focus on in-game and in-store merchandise preparation, presentation, and execution. The Checkers internship is a structured opportunity for you to learn, grow, and contribute in a professional setting. The Checkers strive to provide a creative and entertaining platform to reach fans through community initiatives and an affordable-family sporting event.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With other interns, create a merchandise plan from start to finish for a fictional team
  • Assist in merchandise initiatives; generate ideas and programs that increase the team's overall outreach and ROI while satisfying fans' interests and wants
  • Work paid in-game merchandise operations for scheduled Charlotte Checkers games throughout the duration of the internship (Weekdays & Weekends)
  • Help facilitate in-store and back office operations
  • Develop a strong understanding of retail software and inventory
  • Other beneficial learning objectives as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Sport Management, Marketing, Retail Merchandise or closely related field. (Charlotte area University preferred)

The Stockton Heat is searching for an enthusiastic individual to serve as a game-day Mascot Assistant as well as an occasional alternate performer. This opportunity is great for someone looking to gain more experience in the mascot and performance field. Frankie the Firebird plays an integral role during home games, community events, school appearances, and more, and we are looking for someone to entertain and excite fans of all ages at all times. The Stockton Heat is searching for a Community Relations Intern for the 2016-17 season. This is a full-season opportunity for you to expand your knowledge in a professional sports setting while networking with others in a similar field. Community Relations interns play an essential part in the day-to-day activities of the Community Relations Department both on game days and during the regular work week. -Assist in executing signature fundraising in-game events

-Suit up as the Stockton Heat mascot for select appearances, if needed

Summary: 
The Texas Stars are currently accepting applications for a Communications Internship, based in Digital Media and Video, for the 2016-17 season.

The Digital Media internship is available for Fall Semester, Spring Semester, or the Full Season. College credit is accepted, but not required. This position is an unpaid internship and reports to the Director of Marketing and the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations.

The Digital Media Intern will be required to attend all Texas Stars home games and some of the team’s game-day practices at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park (formerly Cedar Park Center) in Cedar Park, Texas. Interns will also be asked to monitor some of the road games online. They will also be required to attend some other team functions, such as the Dallas Stars’ NHL Training Camp at H-E-B Center.

The Digital Media Internship will have a direct effect on the Stars use of video in their social media and web efforts. This provides an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a professional sports
franchise, and is a fundamental stepping stone towards procuring a full-time position in Digital/Social Media in the sports industry. 

Essential Functions:
- Assist the Director of Marketing and the Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations with day-to-day duties.
- Recording game-day practice interviews and postgame interviews to be uploaded for social media and local TV stations.
- Using Facebook Live to live stream morning skate interviews, postgame interviews and other items as assigned.
- Upload in-game highlights to local TV stations during game intermissions.
- Assist in the team’s social media engagement efforts, such as creating real time GIFs and video clips to be used in-game on social media platforms.

Game Night Entertainment/Marketing Interns play a crucial part in ensuring that all in-game operations, including in-stand and on-ice events, are run in a seamless manner. 

Duties:
• Assist in coordination of in-game promotions (Tweet Your Seat, Text To Win, Lucky’s Lucky Puck, McCarthy Cleanest Car, etc)
• Coordinate in-game host and mascot activities
• Participate as part of Pens Promotional Team
• Set up of in-game promotional activities (Intermission contests, in-stand activities)
• Set up of pre-game introductions and special presentations (flag skaters, color guards, puck drops, awards presentations)
• Assistance with handouts/giveaways pre-game and/or post-game
• Assist with game day arena setup (Breakaway distribution, promotional items, etc)
• Other duties as assigned (in office and at arena)
 

Requirements

Ticket Sales Internship (Fall) - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Wilkes Barre, PA)

Internship:

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, American Hockey League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are seeking Ticket Sales Operations Interns for the 2016-2017 season.  The WBS Penguins strive on providing interns with real life experience by working with staff members through office and game night settings.  Interns will be required to have office hours (between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm) as well as Penguins home games (5pm to 9:30pm).  Schedule will be determined by the amount of interns.

 

What to expect:

As an intern in the Penguins ticket department, you can expect to be involved in day to day ticketing operations as well as daily office functions such as:

 

Daily operation procedures:

·         First point of contact for fans calling the ticketing line and transferring calls to the ppropriate department

·         Assist with the ticket mailings and preparation

·         Learn to use Archtics ticketing system and Property-Port CRM

·         Learn to generate leads through various social media platforms

·         Learn to service Season Ticket Member and Group Ticket leader accounts

·         Take part in executing Season Ticket Member events

·         Learn through a successful ticket sales culture with highly regarded sports industry sales training

·         Daily office tasks

Game night operation procedures:

·         Assist the ticketing department with in game duties.

 Duties may include, but not limited to:

·         STM in game visits

·         In game activities

·         Coordinate game night experiences for both the season and group department

·         Handling of ticket issues (ticket reprints, player tickets, arena access)

·         Youth hockey liaison

·         Assist with setup and take down of Penguins Fan Assistance booth and season ticket members giveaway areas

·         Assist Director of Game Night with activities as assigned

Duties

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins video production intern will assist in the creation of team video projects for use in-game, online and on television.  Duties will include shooting game footage and postgame interviews; editing short and long form video segments; logging and editing game and practice footage; graphics creation; and general setup and tear down duties.
