Sponsorship Sales Manager - Portland Pirates (Portland, ME)

Basic Functions/Summary:
This position will be responsible for generating revenue through sales of sponsorships. This position will also serve as the lead for pre-, post, & game day sponsorship activations, as well as sponsor driven community events. This position will also serve as lead corporate ticket sales executive, cultivating relationships with local/regional companies and contracting corporate ticket sales purchases.

Responsibilities:
Sales Duties:
• Prepare strategic action plans & schedules to identify key targets and ticket sales objectives
• Research, prospect and establish brand relationships – via email, direct phone contact, networking and industry events
• Reach and exceed corporate sponsorship & ticket sales goals
• Listen Actively - Perform needs analysis based on initial conversations with brands and create customized proposals regarding partner properties where appropriate
• Achieve and maintain rapport with prospects and clients and work to provide the best possible service
• Create sales materials for EVP, Sales & personnel use as needed
• Reports to the EVP of Sales, providing regular input on all account activity, including status and call reports on a weekly basis
Activation Duties:
• Work with the Game Operations Manager to create custom in game promotions for sponsors and make sure all sponsored elements are included in game night presentations
• Assist in pre-event, event and post-event management
• Work with creative services team on all in game video board slides and other sponsored materials
• Initiate, coordinate, staff, & produce all team community events, mascot & player appearances, and off-ice sponsor activations (Pre- & Post- Season)
• Build and maintain relationship with high value partners (sponsors, community groups, business organizations)

Requirements:
• Min. 2-3 years sales experience with four-year college degree, BA/BS or equivalent
• Previous experience in ticket, sponsorship and/or media sales required, sports & entertainment industry preferred
• Previous experience in event marketing or sponsorship activation preferred
• Relationship-based sales approach
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Entrepreneurial approach to sales and marketing efforts
• Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
• Proficient in Power Point
• Adobe/Photoshop experience a PLUS
