The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Communications Intern. This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a fun fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your coursework.

The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the Checkers' communications department. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside the PR and Communications team and will be actively involved in the successful execution of the 2016-17 season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in setting up the press box before the game and breaking it down after (when necessary)
  • Assist in delivering stats to coaches and referees during intermissions
  • Assist with social media, including capturing photos and video from different areas of the arena
  • Assist with labeling and cataloging game photos during office hours
  • Assist with coverage at practice, including photos and videos

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Communications, Sport Management, Marketing or closely related field (Charlotte area University preferred).
  • Successful candidates are innovative, self-starters, independent, demanding nothing less than the best, energetic, and organized while possessing excellent interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Flexibility to work long and irregular hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays, as assigned.

AVAILABILITY:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attending all Charlotte Checkers home games at Bojangles’ Coliseum
  • Capturing pictures for partner's proof of performance documents
  • Providing hospitality to partners in attendance
  • Conducting market research on other sports organizations and potential sponsorship opportunities
  • Creating proofs of performance for all corporate partners

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Fan Experience Intern. This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the ticket sales department. The intern's primary responsibilities will be to assist in Group and FSE sales from prospecting, to selling, to game day execution of fan experiences. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside the ticket sales department and will be actively involved in the successful execution of the Charlotte Checkers 2016-17 season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist ticket staff in prospecting for sales leads for Season Tickets and Groups
  • Assist ticket staff in processing and distributing ticket orders
  • Assist in the execution of fan experiences on game days
  • Assist with guest services on game days; help sales reps direct fans and answer questions
  • Attend any networking or other promotional team events
  • Be knowledgeable of the Charlotte Checkers ticket packages and promotional nights
  • Be an ambassador for the team and help create extraordinary fan experiences

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management or a related field
  • Strong creative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Desire to be in ticket sales preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends - must attend all weekend games

Game Operations Intern - Charlotte Checkers (Charlotte, NC)

Charlotte Checkers 2016-17 Game Operations Internship

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Game Operations Intern. This position offers an inside look at the game day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a fun fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing Coursework.

*This internship is a GAME DAY ONLY position. No office hours required.*
*This position is UNPAID* *Up to TWO positions will be filled*

This position is designed to assist all members of the ticketing, marketing and corporate departments specifically during game days and community events throughout the season. This internship is a part time position with a focus on in game presentation and execution. This position will have heavy interaction with the Checkers’ current fan base.

The Checkers will play a 38 game home schedule during the 2016-17 season beginning October 28, 2016 and ending April 9, 2017. Playoffs can extend the season until the middle of June.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work ALL Charlotte Checkers games (Weekdays & Weekends)

• Assist in planning and preparing game operation activities

• Supports Charlotte Checkers Marketing staff in all pregame or post game events as assigned

• Assists with in-game production and promotional activities, including selecting guests for intermission activities and promotions: selecting contestants, Zamboni riders, monitoring interactive concourse tables, coordinating group outings etc.

• Interacts with Charlotte Checkers Hockey Operations staff, Bojangles' Coliseum staff, and CRVA staff

• Partnership activation including concourse marketing

• Assisting staff with promotional giveaways and couponing initiatives

• Assisting the sales staff with in arena fan experiences

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Sport Management, Marketing or closely related field. (Charlotte area University preferred)

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Fall Video Production & Graphics Intern. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in writing, shooting and editing videos for promotional use
  • Assist in writing, shooting and editing videos for corporate activation
  • Assist in designing internal marketing and print ad material
  • Assist in graphic design for website content
  • Use of Final Cut Pro 7, After Effects and Photoshop REQUIRED
