This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the Checkers Corporate Department. The Corporate Department’s primary responsibility is the execution of corporate partnerships and sponsorships. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside the corporate sales and servicing team and will be actively involved in the successful execution of the Charlotte Checkers 2016-17 season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attending all Charlotte Checkers home games at Bojangles’ Coliseum
  • Capturing pictures for partner's proof of performance documents
  • Providing hospitality to partners in attendance
  • Conducting market research on other sports organizations and potential sponsorship opportunities
  • Creating proofs of performance for all corporate partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Sport Management, Marketing or closely related field. (Charlotte area University preferred)
  • Successful candidates have some experience in marketing and/or customer service, are innovative, self-starters, independent, demanding nothing less than the best, energetic, and organized while possessing excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Fan Experience Intern - Charlotte Checkers Hockey (Charlotte, NC)

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of Fan Experience Intern. This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a fun fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing Coursework.

The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the ticket sales department. The intern's primary responsibilities will be to assist in Group and FSE sales from prospecting, to selling, to game day execution of fan experiences. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside the ticket sales department and will be actively involved in the successful execution of the Charlotte Checkers 2016-17 season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist ticket staff in prospecting for sales leads for Season Tickets and Groups
  • Assist ticket staff in processing and distributing ticket orders
  • Assist in the execution of fan experiences on game days
  • Assist with guest services on game days; help sales reps direct fans and answer questions
  • Attend any networking or other promotional team events
  • Be knowledgeable of the Charlotte Checkers ticket packages and promotional nights
  • Be an ambassador for the team and help create extraordinary fan experiences

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management or a related field
  • Strong creative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Desire to be in ticket sales preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends - must attend all weekend games

Retail Merchandising Intern - Charlotte Checkers Hockey (Charlotte, NC)

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the position of FALL Retail Merchandising Intern. This position offers an inside look at the day to day operations of the merchandise department of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. This is a dynamic, fun, fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your Sports Marketing or Retail Merchandising Coursework.

*This internship is PAID for scheduled game days and UNPAID for office days*
*This internship MUST be completed for college credit*
*Up to THREE positions will be filled*

This position is designed to assist all members of the merchandising department and work as an in-game sales representative during each game in which scheduled. This internship is a part time position with a focus on in-game and in-store merchandise preparation, presentation, and execution. The Checkers internship is a structured opportunity for you to learn, grow, and contribute in a professional setting. The Checkers strive to provide a creative and entertaining platform to reach fans through community initiatives and an affordable-family sporting event.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With other interns, create a merchandise plan from start to finish for a fictional team
  • Assist in merchandise initiatives; generate ideas and programs that increase the team's overall outreach and ROI while satisfying fans' interests and wants
  • Work paid in-game merchandise operations for scheduled Charlotte Checkers games throughout the duration of the internship (Weekdays & Weekends)
  • Help facilitate in-store and back office operations
  • Develop a strong understanding of retail software and inventory
  • Other beneficial learning objectives as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Ideal candidate is pursuing a college degree in Sport Management, Marketing, Retail Merchandise or closely related field. (Charlotte area University preferred)

The focus of this internship will be to provide an intern with the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the Group Sales Department and the charitable arm of the organization, the Checkers Charitable Foundation. The intern's primary responsibilities will be to execute birthday parties, catering, and assisting the Foundation Director on game days. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside the group sales department and CCF and will be actively involved in the successful execution of the Charlotte Checkers 2016-17 season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist sales reps in planning special events for clients and fans
  • Assist in setting up and overseeing birthday parties day of game
  • Assist in setting up and overseeing catering events at Bojangles' Coliseum pre- and post-game
  • Assist with special events in planning, marketing and execution
  • Assist at the Foundation Table in-game with selling of special items, raffles, etc. and be knowledgeable about fundraising initiatives to help promote the Checkers Charitable Foundation
  • Assist Director of CCF with special foundation events
  • Be an ambassador for the team and help create extraordinary fan experiences
