The Utica Comets are seeking a humorous and friendly performer to take on the role of Audie, the Comets alien. Audie will entertain fans at home games, special events and community appearances. The successful candidate will bring energy and passion into the game-night in-arena experience as well as nurture fan relationship at external events. Please note that this is a part-time position.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain an animated personality with good interpersonal communication skills and creativity
Must be able to communicate nonverbally and create spontaneous crowd interaction
Ability to be trained, coached, critiqued both “in costume” and out
Must have a great sense of humor and enjoy interacting with others
Represent the Utica Comets as Audie professionally at all times
Be available and willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
The team will entertain several candidates to fill the entirety of the role.
 
The qualified candidate should have:
Minimum 1-year experience as a performer/entertainer. (Encouraged but not necessary)
Positive attitude and friendly
Must be 18 years or older, able to work pro-actively and independently, have a can-do attitude and your own transportation.
Due to costume restrictions, preferred height range of 5’8” to 6’4”

Video Production Manager - Utica Comets (Utica, NY)

The Video Production Manager is responsible for creating, shooting, and editing video content for UticaComets.com, Comets social media properties, and use within the Utica Memorial Auditorium. This position works with internal departments to plan and create video and LED content for teams marketing campaigns, in-arena video board shows, corporate partnerships and community relations initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for conceptualizing, planning, shooting, and editing of video.
• Work with other members of the staff to generate video content ideas.
• Plan and capture video in a variety of settings, structured shoots, press conference, media sessions, player appearances and team events
• Edit short form video utilizing motion graphics and effects integrating various elements including highlights, voice over and interview footage.
• Shoot and post videos for Facebook/Instagram/YouTube/Twitter
• Information technology background preferred.
• Set up lighting, audio equipment, backdrops and multi-camera shoots.

• Organize and distribute video footage

• Must be able to understand and conceptualize goals and execute the project.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Video Production/Editing/Visual Effects/Motion Graphics
• Proficient in After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4D, Media Encoder and Audition
• Hands-on experience with video cameras packages required.
• Proficient in use of iPhone to shoot for Facebook/Instagram/YouTube/Twitter
• Must have knowledge of lighting packages, filters, lenses, audio equipment
• Expert at web video compression
• Knowledge of ice hockey
• Familiarity with social media platform video standards
• Knowledge of basic news gathering techniques
• Excellent interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
• Creative and maintains high personal standards for work
• Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
• Able to be flexible and adaptable while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure
• Able to work full weeks, weekends and holidays 

Technical knowledge of the following are a major plus: Video Control Room Equipment (NewTek TriCaster, 3Play, Click Effects), Shared Storage Systems, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, Cinema 4D, General Production Equipment, Microsoft Word & Excel.
