Rampage Media Relations Assistant (Part-Time, Seasonal) - Spurs Sports and Entertainment (San Antonio, TX)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
REPORTS TO: Communications Manager, San Antonio Rampage

POSITION SUMMARY:
The San Antonio Rampage, the top affiliate for the Florida Panthers in the American Hockey League (AHL), part-time seasonal assistant program is designed to offer current students or recent graduates the ability to receive hands-on business experience with a professional sports team. It also provides a great opportunity to build media contacts and network with prominent sports personalities. The person that fills this position will be successful if they hold strong writtern and verbal communication skills, ability to interpret statistics, self starter, highly motivated and ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Position Start Date: September 15, 2014
Position End Date: End of season – May 8, 2015
(Extension for playoffs = through end of June 2015)

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1.Compose and update game notes and produce game recaps for all 76+ games. Conduct in-depth statistical research and analyze player/team statistical trends.
2.Game night duties include organizing press row, media hospitality room, broadcast and video needs. Distribute credentials and game information to media, AHL and NHL scouts.
3.Compose weekly team report for media, league officials and company employees.
4.Assist in writing of press releases and media advisories. Help coordinate and attend staff, player and community events.
5.Compose feature stories for the Rampage Web site, AHL League Web site and Rampage publications.
6.Update and maintain accurate media contact list and maintain news clippings, team photo library and historical archives.
7.Other Duties as Assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
List the key experience requirements a candidate needs in order to be considered for the role. These can include education, certifications, physical expectations, travel or office time or occupational skills. These are minimum qualifications proven to be needed to accomplish the intended purpose of the position.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer skills required.
•Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
•Degree or current course of study in communications, sport management or related concentration.
•Have a flexible schedule, with the ability to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays. This includes the ability to work 30 hours per week.
•Must attend all home games and be able to work from home for away games during a full season. (Sept.-May)
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong knowledge of sports and statistics, including the ability to analyze game statistics and track trends.
•Knowledge of the sport of hockey and/or American Hockey League (AHL) is a plus.
•Highly organized and great attention to detail.
•Self-starter, highly motivated individual, and possesses the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•Ability to create new story angles.
•Ability to work with all types of people.
