Account Manager, Corporate Partnerships - Springfield Thunderbirds (Springfield, MA)

The Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League are seeking a motived Account Manager of Corporate Partnerships to generate new business through local and regional sponsorships. The Account Manager will execute integrated partnerships for the Springfield Thunderbirds and MassMutual Center including, but not limited to, media and promotional programs, on premise signage, game sponsorships and event marketing.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Prospect and cultivate new corporate partner relationships in order to drive revenue for the team and arena
  • Customize partnership opportunities to meet each client’s marketing goals and objectives
  • Develop sales strategies and prospecting models to ensure a continuous pipeline
  • Build relationships with potential customers in person and over the phone including cold calling, setting discovery meetings and potential partner presentations and proposals
  • Negotiates and finalizes the contractual process
  • Pro-actively provide service to partners and potential partners by identifying, addressing and exceeding expectations while maximizing value and ensuring return on objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent sales/management experience required
  • 3+ years of sport sponsorship sales experience in professional sports or collegiate athletics
  • Self-motivated with high-energy customer relations drive
  • Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with people of all different levels and backgrounds
  • Ability to work with other departments on integrating sponsor needs and requests
  • Ability to work game nights and evening events based on business needs

Game Night Intern - Springfield Thunderbirds (Springfield, MA)

The Springfield Thunderbirds are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and community-driven Game Night staffers for the 2016-17 American Hockey League season. This internship will provide participants the chance to gain relevant sports experience in community relations and promotional settings. Duties for the Promo Team staff include but are not limited to:

-Create and assist with promotional ideas and events for current and potential Springfield Thunderbirds Community Relations events, programs, and partners

-Participate on the Thunderbirds Game Night Staff assisting with the fulfillment of Fan Experiences and other Community Relations Activities.

-Serve as a liaison with participating groups for game-night entertainment activities ranging from on-ice contests to concourse tables

-Assist in the distribution of giveaways and promotional items

-Manage concourse activites, contests, and data collection practices (Enter-to-Win raffles, etc.)

-Maintain exemplary levels of customer service and assistance with patrons

-Set up and teardown tables, banners, inflatable game, and other equipment at community event functions

-Attend and contribute to Springfield Thunderbirds special events including Community Relations and Youth Hockey events.

-Assist at team signings, practices and appearances when necessary.

-Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Ice Crew - Springfield Thunderbirds (Springfield, MA)

The Springfield Thunderbirds are seeking dedicated Ice Crew members for the 2016-17 AHL season. Ice crew members are highly recommended to be available for all 38 regular season home games from October through April.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Assist with maintenance of ice (shoveling, moving nets, etc.) and operating associated equipment as required.

-Assist ice resurfacer drivers by moving hockey nets during and after games.

-Assist with hockey rink and game day related set-up requirements including glass cleaning, dasher board and glass maintenance.

-Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

-Experience working in an ice rink setting in front of large crowds is preferred.

-Experienced, proficient ice skaters ONLY.

-Candidates will possess good energy, positive attitude, strong teamwork and communication skills, professionalism, and reliability.

The Springfield Thunderbirds are currently seeking a Multimedia Intern for the 2016-17 American Hockey League season. This will be a hands-on experience, providing interns the chance to gain relevant expertise in the field. This internship position will be responsible for assisting the Manager of Digital and Social Media in tasks including but not limited to:

• Using DSLRs to capture video and photo highlights.
• Using Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro in tight deadlines
• Understanding of major social media platforms functionality.
• Cutting game highlights for distribution to social media and local media sources
• Facilitating media requests at games.
• Continuing ongoing research of team, players, history, etc.
• Working as part of team to produce Original Series productions.

• Assisting in-game promotions staff.
• Establishing and managing production and distribution of credentials.
• Generating story ideas for Original Series productions
