The Springfield Thunderbirds are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and community-driven Game Night staffers for the 2016-17 American Hockey League season. This internship will provide participants the chance to gain relevant sports experience in community relations and promotional settings. Duties for the Game Night staff include but are not limited to:

-Participate on the Thunderbirds Game Night Staff assisting with the fulfillment of Fan Experiences and other Community Relations Activities.

-Serve as a liaison with participating groups for game-night entertainment activities ranging from on-ice contests to concourse tables

-Assist in the distribution of giveaways and promotional items

-Manage concourse activites, contests, and data collection practices (Enter-to-Win raffles, etc.)

-Maintain exemplary levels of customer service and assistance with patrons

-Assist at team signings, practices and appearances when necessary.

-Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Ice Crew - 2017-18 Season - Springfield Thunderbirds (Springfield, MA)

The Springfield Thunderbirds are seeking dedicated Ice Crew members for the 2016-17 AHL season. Ice crew members are highly recommended to be available for all regular season home games from through April, as well as playoff games (if necessary). 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Assist with maintenance of ice (shoveling, moving nets, etc.) and operating associated equipment as required.

-Assist ice resurfacer drivers by moving hockey nets during and after games.

-Assist with hockey rink and game day related set-up requirements including glass cleaning, dasher board and glass maintenance.

-Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

-Experience working in an ice rink setting in front of large crowds is preferred.

-Experienced, proficient ice skaters ONLY.

The Manager, Digital & Social Media for the American Hockey League assists in the promotion of the league, its teams and its players by managing the daily operation of the league’s social media platforms and coordinating its digital strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate the league’s social media platforms, maintaining visibility and engagement while delivering on-message content
    • Develop creative ways to build follower bases
    • Provide steady, daily flow of relevant content, identifying optimum posting practices
    • Enforce league campaigns through social media conversation
    • Provide social media coverage of special league events, including press conferences, outdoor games, All-Star Classic, Calder Cup Finals
    • Work with member clubs to improve their own digital media strategies/execution

  • Implement and manage the league’s digital media strategies, incorporating content, hockey communications, public relations, marketing, ticket sales, sponsorship, etc.
